Hotel Pelayo Barcelona  

The pictures on the site are much better than the actual room. Basically the room had bad bed, the window door does not close well and there are only 3 chairs on the loby.

Pros: The staff was courteous.
Cons: They put us in a very small room, which wasn't particularly bad if it weren't for the rank smell of sewage eminating from the bathroom. we told the staff about it and they said they would fix it, however all they did was to open all the windows. the ground floor of the hotel smelled like sewage too, so they have some unresolved plumbing issues.

Pros: Friendly staff, most of whom spoke excellent english. very convenient location just a short walk from the main transport and social heart of the city
Cons: The room was quite small but it had all that i needed. only other complaint was that the tv was tiny and i had problems getting tuning into more than one channel!

Cons: Breakfast was a vending machine drink (all contained sugar) and a pre-wrapped cake. the bathroom had neither a window nor an extraction fan

Cons: If you stay in a room close to the reception-area, you can be kept awake from the sound of the door-bell while guests are returning to the hotel late at night.

Pros: Nice safe place to lay your head when enjoying the stay in centre of barcelona.
Cons: Nothing bad to say. room 101 was ok.
a hint for visitors: bring your own bath plug and you'll make it 2 star hotel ;)

Pros: Hotel staff very helpful, rooms were very clean, everything worked, plenty of towels
Cons: Lights on stairways not lighting in one section at night

Cons: Breakfast was a bit lacking, along with coffee only being available from the machine at breakfast time.

Pros: Very good location. good size of rooms and clean. nice staff. definitely recommend this hotel for vacation travelers.
Cons: First impression from the outside not so good, but once you enter its a nice hotel. the breakfast buffet mentioned in the site was not really a buffet or breakfast. just a couple of cookies.

Pros: It was at a great location being less than 5 minutes walk from placa catalunya & the buzzing la rambla. the room we stayed in was very clean & spacious. the breakfast was basic but i was happy to be able to have a bite & some coffee before i set out for the day. being centrally located, it was within walking distance to many significant sites.
Cons: I was a little suprised that my credit card was charged before i arrived there (i arrived around 6pm). i would have preferred if i was charged only at the end of the day, if i did not turn up. being from overseas, i ended up paying the conversion assessment fees & foreign exchange taxes on my credit card, when instead i could have paid by the travel card i had for europe.

Pros: The hotel is basic but clean and in a good location.
Cons: We had 4 rooms between 8 of us ranging from a single, a double and 2 triples - the single anddoubel rooms were very small and i would not like to have been coouped up in them for longer than 2 nights!
