Parc Guell in Barcelona

At least that's what Eusebi Guell had envisioned when he commissioned the great Antonio Gaudi to design a huge landscape and stone park for Barcelona. This park surrounds the house where Gaudi once lived, where there is an amazing museum containing Gaudi's collection of earth inspired furniture and personal items. At the entrance to the park you will be greeted by a mosaic tile and stone dragon that spouts water rather then fire. Many a traveler has left Barcelona with pictures of each other next to this wise looking mythical creature which embodies the whimsical and earthy tone that Gaudi used in most of his work throughout his life. On a later path, you will witness the stone pillars that hold up the walkways high above the park; they look suspiciously like tree trunks. As with most of the tourist spots in the city, the top of the park contains a terrace where you will get yet another spectacular view of the park and the surrounding city. In true Gaudi fashion all of the benches are made from the same brilliant tile mosaic used in the dragon and on the stone animals throughout the park. You could easily spend all day up on the terrace, but the park is vast and beautiful, so make sure that you allocate an entire day at Parc Guell during your trip to Barcelona.
