If you are interested in Catalonian visual art, then it is well worth your while booking your discount hotel in Barcelona by the National Art Museum of Catalonia. The museum is fairly new. It was formed in 1990 by a reconciliation of two other museums, and it houses works from the Gothic, Renaissance and Romansque periods, as well as 19th and 20th Century works. It is housed in a building that was erected in 1929 for the World’s Fair, and the gallery itself was put together in readiness for the 1992 summer Olympics.

The collections were slowly added to the museum bit by bit over a series of years, and it wasn't until 2004 that it was officially opened. Now there is also an impressive fountain show at the front of the museum.
