Great week end in Barcelona, in a twin room. Very good location, in the centre of the Gothic barrio. A bit expansive for a simple room and quite noisy.

"Great location and good service - but AWFUL sleep"
This pension is very nicely located in the Gottic area, close to cute shops and good restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. However if you value your sleep to much, this is not the place. The bed was the worst i've ever slept in, i would have preferred a sleeping bag and a mat. Thin, hard and incredibly squeaky.

"Price/quality/location okay"
Pros: Price/quality/location okay. nice breakfast next door.
Cons: Matrasses should be renewed. often lack of toiletpaper.
Pros: Very enjoyable stay. friendly helpful staff. fairly easy to find. fabulous location right in the heart of the barrio gotico which we loved. small and basic but clean room. tiny but perfectly formed balcony overlooking the street with its bars and shops. pedestrianised side street off a busy main road. great old building with some original features. felt like we were experiencing a true reflection of barcelona living surrounded by locals not tourists. fresh towels and bed made, bin emptied daily. not spotless but clean enough. bed was comfy and bedding clean. working safe in room. the room was very inexpensive compared to other places in barcelona and as such was great value for money.
Cons: The pension does not occupy the whole building. there are 6 flights of stairs up to reception and our room was another 6 fights up after that. if you struggle with stairs, this place is not for you. the communal lounge tv does not work. there's a drinks and snack dispenser in there though. which you may need as there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. there is a sink in the room but no plug and cold water only. the shared nature of the building means that silence is demanded after 10pmmall you have to walk sideways at the foot of the bed to get past the wardrobe. the communal shower facilities were not clean enough for my liking but my partner was satisfied. no bathmats are provided so bring a flannel or something to stand on so you don't slip. was a hot powerful shower though. weirdly the room doors are extremely narrow . if you are a very large person you simply may not get through. yes there was a working tv in the room...but it only had one channel (a music channel)

"Friendly girl at desk"
Pros: Friendly girl at desk
Cons: Instructions to get there useless.
no mention of 4 to 6 flights of stairs.
no soap or towel in the shared toilet , bathroom.
no blankets in our room, had to ask. tv did not work.the shower was left blocked by a person before.there was no plunger to unblock so i had to dress, go down two flights of stairs and they wernt surprised at the blocked shower. they grabbed a plunger and headed off to fix the problem. lucky they have rooms on several levels, so upstairs to get towel and then down again for shower.clients expected to mop after them but they left a sloppy mop in bucket and the young boys slopped it around, and there was no bathmat for the wet floor.
