If you don’t know much about Barcelona, this is a great place to be, especially for tourists. You are literally right in the midst of all there is to see and do in this great city when you stay at Principal Hotel Barcelona. If you are a business traveler, the business district of the city is very close by as well so you can have all of your needs met in that area as well.
How to reach the Principal Hotel?From the Airport: the “Airport bus", leaves the terminals every 15 minutes. It is fast and comfortable with space for luggage. It takes between 25-35 minutes. The price is 3.50€ per person. Get off at Plaza Catalunya. You can take line 3 (green) of the underground and get off at LICEU, go down calle Hospital, and you will find the hotel on the first street on the left.
By Taxi: Outside the airport. The approximate cost is 25-30 euros. It takes around 20-30 minutes.
By Train: Leaves every 15 minutes and takes 35 minutes. Get off at Plaza Catalunya. You can take line 3 (green) of the underground and get of at Liceu. Go down calle Hospital and you will find the hotel in the first street on the left.

The staff were informative and very happy to assist in any query. the hotel was clean and very certral to everything, buses, metro so sights which were not within walking distance were easily to get to.The breakfast was not hot and in no way gave value for money. the bed covers were taken off the beds on the 2nd day and because we were not using the wardrobe,did not find them until the day we departed, but the room had heating so we used that.Anonymous

The hotel was very central, staff were extremely helpful, the hotel was clean and the breakfasts were very goodThe negative was i had originally booked monday to fiday, our flight was cancelled on the friday and i amended our stay through easytobook so we were leaving thursday, this had not been passed onto the hotel, only the fact that i had kept your confirmation in my e-mail account allowed the hotel not to press for paymnet for another day, this was an error on your part, i had to give my password to the hotel so they could check my e-mail account, consequently i spent our last few hours of our stay trying to change my password in the hotels internet service.Anonymous

Location was the main plus with this hotel, walking distance of everything. but also room very comfortable, two small double beds as requested for my mum and i , and as room was an interior one with central courtyard spared of the street noise i expected in such a central location . free internet was a plus. also able to control temperature yourself with very quiet air con unit. breakfast fine, just a bit repetitive. we loved barcelona and would stay at this hotel in particular again and recommend it to friends. We stayed for four nights in total and had a very pleasant stay, it was our first time in the city so we were a bit nervous but there was no nee. the hotel was spotlessly clean the maid came in every day, the staff were extremely helpful and polite. the breakfasts were excellent, i really cant find any fault with the hotel and would reccommend to anyone.The surrounding streets were a bit off putting especially at night but we didnt feel nervous or threatened in any way, as long as you dont go wandering off alone you will be fine.Anonymous

Staff were very friendly and helpful. roof top terrace is a fabulous chill out spot. air conditioning throughout the hotel was a welcome bonus during barcelona's summer.my balcony above the street was lovely as well. fabulous bar/restaurant on the same side of the same street called kabara which had delicious meals in a funky but chilled atmosphere..very reasonably priced and very close to hotel. also the vegetarian :organic" restaurant accross the street is a good option. hotel was locatyed in a great location for seeing barcelona. central to everything. for the same price i found a room in the gothic quarter that was tiny, windowless and without airconditioning or breakfast. this place is definitely value for money. i was really happy and stayed twice in total for 16 days.I had a noisy bathroom fan which was fixed within minutes of reporting it by staff. i'd recommend being a bit street wise in the area. if you keep your valuables tucked away in your pockets and look like you know what you're doing in this area you should be right. i would recommend this hotel to everyone.Anonymous

Excellent hot/cold buffet breakfast - good value for money. don't be put off from the picture on the web site about the breakfast room.
exellent location if you want to be close to the las ramblas without the noise. was in a safe area.
hotel was spotless and well maintained including our room.
Abit noisy on one of the nights (we stayed for two) from an adjacent room but this could happen anywhere!
the roof tope terrace was not open when we tried in the morning but this was only a minor inconvenience
