Eurohotel Diagonal Port Barcelona  

I normally despise whingers about hotels, I am generally of the opinion of make the best of it, you are away in the sun after all. From the word go the receptionist was unfriendly at check in and to say the least abrupt. The room was very dated, old fashioned bedding, hard beds, small bathroom and scratches on the wooden floor which could be easily rectified. The breakfast was poor, after being in Barcelona a dozen times or so, the choice and quality were the worst I have experienced to date, the scrambled eggs had a crust on?? Dry, rubbery and if they had been tasteless it would have been a positive. Cafe con leche was poor and lacked the creaminess of the usual coffee's.Positives were the gentleman in the restaurant was only too happy to allow me into the restaurant early on Sunday morning, I was there for the triathlon, and fixed me a simple breakfast, juice, tea and cereal and toast, all I needed, when he discovered I was racing, disappeared and came back with a bowel of walnuts and told me to take them away for energy, a small gesture greatly appreciated. This was after the reception gestapo telling me I would have to wait for the restaurant to open and no way could i go in before. There was another receptionist who came on duty who was a friendlier guy, was helpful with maps, metro times etc.All in all there are other hotels in equally good locations, for the sake of 30 - 50 euro, spend it.

I had attempted to modify my stay because of date confusion and after initially agreeing to make the change it was refused which made me less than neutral at the onset. However, aware of my negativism I still would not ever stay here again because of the spartan nature of the hotel and the lack of adequate of any reasonable noise abatement so street noise at 3AM was very easily heard. The bar of sink soap was so small that there was essentially none in the morning so we had to use the shower dispenser. Although I was charged for two nights stay they even refused to give us a cup of coffee in the morning although there is a restaurant in the hotel. By US standards it was no more than a 2 star hotel.

Pros: As a general hotel is reaseonable price
Cons: Internet is very expensive. room service is bad they changed my towels only once throughout my stay of 4 nights

Pros: Nice location. friendly staff. very helpful in getting cabs, finding places to go etc.
Cons: Breakfast staff not friendly. i had only coffee but my friend was having breakfast and was not satisfied with the food so i tasted her pastry from her plate. one of the staff came to me agitated saying, "i see you eating i saw you i will charge your room. really ugly reaction to my tasting food from a plate that would be trashed. sad

Pros: Very clean, modern, well positioned. staff on reception very helpful.
Cons: On one occasion unacceptable noise at night. no bar staff available much of the time. outside terrace door kept shutting and trapping us outside with no way of alerting staff! business covention overran the terrace, making it uncomfortable for us to stay.

Pros: Friendly staff and good location
Cons: Arrived at hotel about 10.00 p.m although restaurant faclities were open till 1.00 a.m they were completely out of food! not ideal with 4 tired and hungry children.

Cons: Lack of facilities post check out. we had a late flight and had to change and wash in the toilets in reception.

Pros: Clean, good view, helpful staff.
Cons: Air conditioning didn't work...or at least we couldn't make it work!

Pros: Very cean and very near to the sea.
Cons: Not near to the tube station.

Pros: Staff very pleasant and helpful - amazing location right near the beach and a short walk from shopping centre and main sightseeing areas.

Pros: staff helpfull. rooms were a good size
Cons: Bar food not very good

Pros: Good location, very close to the beach and less than 30 minutes to the center. the staff are great and services were fantastic, the room was immaculately clean.
Cons: There were no provision for english speaking tv stations and you have to pay to watch movies in the room, the room does not have self making tea or coffe facilities.

Pros: Easy to book, nice location by the sea side, close to metro station and green line turistic bus(summer season only)
Cons: The fact to be charged breakfast and garage on top of hotel room was a bad surprise.

it was written in the reservation, but i believe it is a true turn off to create fidelization.

Pros: When we got there they informed us they were fully booked and we were upgraded to a junior suite

Pros: Very lovely place - everything was exactly like it should be in four star hotel - nice and helpful staff, good service and clean rooms. the only thing which was not perfect was its localization (lovely place near the beach but same time quite far from center), but i already knew what i'm taking so it's definitely not hotel's fault. except of that - excellent, worth to stay place.

Pros: Nice and friendly stuff
Cons: Breakfast exluded, minibar extra charge, far away from public transport, no special buses from aeroport.

Pros: Everything went smoothly. no complaints at all.
