The hotel is located in Paral.lel Av, 5 minutes walking distance from Las Ramblas and Barcelona's Trade Exhibition Centre. The metro Paral.lel is located just in front of the hotel´s main entrance and just 10 min away from the Tour Bus stop! The are many dining, shopping and entertainment choices in the surroundings. The Port Olimpic is just 10 minutes driving distance as well as the shopping centers and trendy shops of Avinguda Diagonal.
How to reach the Barcelona Universal Hotel?From Barcelona's El Prat airport: Take the RENFE train to Sants Estacio. Once there take the underground's green line (L3) towards Trinitat Nova for four stops and get off in Paral.lel. The hotel is a few meters from there.

Rooms spacy, clean and well equipped. staff friendly and helpful. 
Minor carps: on arrival i was assigned a room already occupied by someone else - but this was quickly sorted in an efficient and friendly manner; the broadband connection seemed prohibitively slow at times and i couldn't send/get emails. but these are nit-picking gripesMurray

Our stay was a gift from our daughter & husband as a treat for our 60th & 65th birthdays. she requested an upgrade if possible and we got this - our suite was excellent & we thoroughly enjoyed it.Nothing negative about the hotelAnonymous

Room spacious, comfortable and very clean - beautiful bathroom with large bath and powerful shower and very hot water. beds extremely comfortable. excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. excellent location.Slightly strange to stay in room with no outside window - a bit disorientating at first especially when waking in morning, but got used to it.Anonymous

My second floor, corner room was large, modern, well designed and clean. the location (15 min walk from la rambla) is excellent. poble sec is a laid back and increasingly trendy part of town with good bars and restaurants in nearby carrer de blai and placa del sortidor.Some of the staff could work on their customer service a bit. the receptionist studiously ignored me when i first arrived and then was surly and monosyllabic, which gave me a bad first impression of the place. others were much friendlier.
the walk into town goes through a slightly dodgy part of el raval but i had no problems, even late at night.

Great hotel at great location! just 10 minutes walk to the ramblas and the old port. the hotel is next to paral-lel metro station which has access to montjuic and the whole city. the staff was very helpful, the room huge, cleaned every day. the hotel has free internet and safes in rooms.Very expensive breakfast (14 euro per person). you can find breakfast at half that price near the hotel.Anonymous
