Rubena Hotels and Accommodation
Rubena is a minuscule village in the central Spanish province of Burgos, part of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon. According to a 2004 census, there are only 176 permanent inhabitants living in the village. Rubena was part of the original Intendencia de Burgos, the late 18th century predecessor of the province of Burgos that exists today. Like Burgos, Rubena was a major stopping point for pilgrims hoping to visit the shrine of Santiago de Compostela. Nowadays, hotels in Rubena are filled with "pilgrims" of a different sort: those who hope to catch a glimpse into the medieval grandeur that was Spain. The city has many beautifully preserved old buildings, as well as ready access to the attractions of nearby Burgos--a major Spanish trade city of the Middle Ages.
The biggest attraction in Rubena is the magnificent Iglesia de Rubena, with its massive, three-tiered bell tower. Another ecclesiastic attraction is the old Monasterio de San Salvador de Ona, a monastery dating from the 11th century. The newly-constructed Burgos Airport is also near, a definite point of interest for visitors from abroad. If you're on a budget and looking for discount hotels in Rubena, browse a moment through sites like EasyToBook.com before you visit.
