Roses is a lovely coastal town located in the Catalonia region of Spain. From its ancient origins as a small fishing village, Roses has been transformed into a modern resort destination; still it retains the largest fishing fleet on the Costa Brava. For historical attractions, be sure to visit the Citadel on the eastern end of town, built in 1543. There are two nature preserves within Roses - the Creus Cape Peninsula, with a collection of unique flora and fauna, and the Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l'Emporda. The Bay of Roses also provides a wealth of stunning beaches and all the usual water sports which normally accompany such.
