Southeast from the center of the province of Granada is the town of Cájar. Over the weekend, Cájar is often visited because of its historical church, the Iglesia Parroquial de Ntra. Sra. de los Dolores. The church was built in 1785 with a neo-classical design and it houses some of the town’s prized sculptures from the same century. The town is also a perfect stopover to visit beautiful churches in other towns. La Zubia is only a few kilometers west of Cájar. There you’ll find the Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a fine example of mudéjar-influenced structure from the 17th century. On the Northern part of Cájar is Huétor Vega. It is home to another mudéjar structure, the 16th century Iglesia Parroquial de Santa María de la Encarnación.
