Almonte is a mid-sized southern Spanish town of about 20,000 residents, located in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Like many Spanish cities, it's rich in history. The town boasts many remnants of the successive civilizations that have made their home there, from unknown Bronze Age inhabitants, to Romans, to Moors, to Christians. During the Middle Ages, the powerful Dukes of Medina-Sidonia made their homes in Almonte. Since the 18th century, the people of Almonte have lived primarily by agriculture. Among tourists, the town's beaches are also popular.
