Huelva Hotels and Accommodation
Located along the Costa de la Luz, in the Andalucia region of Spain, is the city of Huelva. This coastal city is filled with many monuments, buildings, and parks that many visitors come to explore for the weekend. Huelva is also closely connected to the discovery of America, as Christopher Columbus set sail from the docks that were once located in Huelva.
Majority of the historical buildings that were built before the 18th century were destroyed when the 1755 Lisbon earthquake hit. Other sites worth checking out is the Cathedral de la Merced, a 17th century church that contains images of “La Cintra”, the town patroness. The La Concepción was built in the 14th century and within the church is a collection of tiles commemorating Columbus’s visit to the church. If you wish to explore the sites of Columbus, just south of Huelva at Punta del Sebo is a 112 foot Columbus statue that guards the bridge over the Rio Tinto. In the heart of Huelva city is a beautiful and shady Las Monjas Square. Or if you wish to relax there is the Parque Moret, one of the cities larges parks, or if you would like to relax near the seafront, there is the Jardin de Muelle Park. The Provincial Museum in Huelva boasts an open-air sculpture museum and a collection of artefacts.
