Calahorra Hotels and Accommodation
Calahorra is on the Costa Del Sol not far from the historic city of Granada. It is on the A92 road that runs between Granada and Almeria. If you are staying somewhere like Malaga, then you might want to go somewhere else for a weekend. Calahorra and the surrounding towns and villages are steeped in Moorish history. The area is famous for its cave culture. When the Moors were driven out by Christian rulers in the fifteenth century, they fled to the mountains and took to living in the caves thus starting the cave culture. Calahorra hotels are situated all around the local area. In the nearby town of Guadix there is an area known as La Barriada de las Cuevas, where every hill has a painted white façade and a front door, many even have windows set into the rock. These are occupied by many local families. Hotels in Calahorra are quite cheap, this is not a rich area but a very traditional one.
Calahorra is surrounded by the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, and for those who are interested you could stay in discount hotels – Calahorra boasts skiing among its attractions. Calahorra boasts an imposing castle and the hot springs and spa - Alicun de las Torres – which is well worth a visit. Stay in Calahorra cheap hotels with EasyToBook.com and visit the Calhora museum which is housed in an old tower. Visit the Restaurant Hospedería del Zenete for a taste of the regional cuisine.
