Arganda del Rey offers easy access to Madrid and a wealth of interesting places to visit in its own right. The main places of cultural interest are the Hermitage Valtierra, a 13th-Century ruin located in the village of Valtierra, the Casa de Vilches winery, and the area's numerous churches and dwellings dating back to the 17th Century. Perhaps the most unique building is the one known as 'the telegraph', one of a line of towers originally designed to united Madrid with all her provincial capitals, sea ports and borders. The tower in Arganda is the only one left which is intact – the rest are unrecognisable ruins.

Wine dominates the Arganda region, and along with olive oil it is one of the principle industries today. Among the best wines to be had here are Payment Vilches, the Vine Renderos or any of the wineries Castejon, which holds numerous national awards for the standard of its produce. The main festival in Arganda is celebrated in honour of the Virgen de la Soledad and takes place on the second Saturday of September. A public holiday runs from the Friday to the Monday to accommodate the celebrations, which include many variations of bullfighting.
