 "The nightmare you could never even imagine"
Before I start off my review, one thing has to be clarified - Chic and Basic is a hostel, not a hotel. Consequently (and you might say, logically), it is my fault that I did not know this exact information. Unfortunately, it is not, the web page hailed it as a hotel, we found out that it is a hostel only once we´ve arrived. Do not expect user-friendliness, you will not see any sign, any emblem marking this ominous hostel on the street. Once you are in (we waited ten minutes until some bearded guy let us in - he lives there, does not work for C&B), you will see a staircase, again, no signs.It is on the second floor that the hostel is situated, frankly, I was shocked even by its sign, as if it were some secret sectarian gay-club where we, normal people, are by no means welcome.The receptionist speaks minimal English, you will find it very difficult to be understood.

 "I love the concept of chic & basic colors"
Pros: I love the concept of chic & basic colors. spacious room, really chic, with all basic needs covered. the all day breakfast room made a huge difference in our comfort - coming home late at night and hungry, and being able to have a snack. staff very accommodating. can't get much better location than this. very good value for money. i would stay there again, and recommend it.

Pros: Lovely apartment style hotel, colors only has a few rooms as oppose to the other two 'chic and basic' hotels but meant was very friendly. very modern and clean decor with good sized rooms for the price paid and lovely bathroom facilities with clean towels and room service daily. breakfast was fab, simply had a fridge in the communal breakfast bar area stocked with fresh milk, juice, fruits, yoghurts, cereals, cakes and croissants aswell as more so you could even make yourself a sandwich for the day or a snack when you got in. coffee machine was also great!
Cons: Couldn't fault apart from teh fact that because we booked independently we did not receive the info about late check in from the hotel so had to go to their other hotel just round the corner to pick up the keys but the staff were very helpful!

Pros: Both of the staff members i spoke with were truly excellent. the hotel name is apt: chic and basic. the hotel is truly basic (although there is wifi and an in-room toilet and shower), while at the same time chic--it is humorous how the hotel incorporated my room color into every aspect of the room.
Cons: When the toilet or showers are operated, a pumping machine turns on which is quite loud. this isn't a problem when one is using it, but can be a problem when one's neighbors flush or shower. the walls are thin, and three of the eleven rooms are just off of the lobby/breakfast room. if i stayed here again, i would be worried of being placed in one of those three rooms.

 "This is not truly a hotel; it is a hostal"
Pros: This is not truly a hotel; it is a hostal. that said, it is very friendly place, especially if you like preparing your own breakfast. very clean. the man at the desk, norge, is a delight.
Cons: Not precisely negative, but should something go wrong, you are advised to call an emergency number, as no one is present in the evening or night. there is no lift in the building, so be advised that there are two long flights of stairs.

Pros: Location central. front desk clerk very helpful. clean room, but too small for us.
Cons: Too many stairs to climb. room clean when we arrived, but it was not cleaned for us after our first night (we stayed two.) "continental breakfast" facilities a bit grubby.
