AZCA Business Area is the business and financial district of Madrid. Often called the “Skyscraper Zone” of the city, AZCA stands for Asociacion Mixta de Compensacion de la Manzana A de la Zona Comercial de la Avenida del Generalisimo. Close to many Metro stations for transportation ease, AZCA is where much of the hustle and bustle of Madrid is centered.
The AZCA Business Area has several unusual buildings, most notably the two that lean inward at a 15-degree angle. This creates a structural formation known as the Puerta de Europa, or Gateway to Europe. The tallest building in the AZCA Business Area is known as the Picasso Tower. This 43 story building was designed by the same architect that designed the New York City Twin Towers in USA. Another building in the area that is famous is known as the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, where the Real Madrid football club plays. Among all these buildings are also several pubs, a discotheque and restaurants.
