Oia is a town within the province of Pontevedra, Spain. It is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and is known for its surfing. One of the most notable places is the Santa Maria Monastery. The building was started in the 12th century and construction took place up until some time in the 18th century. The building and the surrounding area are quite large but at this time only the church itself is open to the public. The town of Oia is small, but there are plenty of places to eat and a number of discounts hotels in Oia are easily located. It is also a wonderful place to take romantic walks along the coastline.

The district of Pontevedra is an interesting place, as it has historic old world charm yet is also a tourist hot spot.
