Costa Adeje is a town of 27,640 inhabitants located in Tenerife, one of the Spanish-controlled Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. Costa Adeje lies in the southwestern part of the island, and is easily accessible from Santa Cruz de Tenerife by freeway. Until recently, farming dominated the town's economy. Since the 1990's, tourism began to exert a significant influence over the development of the town. Nowadays, more tourists than ever before come to hotels in Costa Adeje, attracted by town's beaches of soft, volcanic sands as well as by the promise of sailing, whale watching, and endless drinking and dancing.
Attractions in Costa Adeje include the nearly-complete, Thai-themed Siam Park, soon to be the biggest water park in Europe. Another marine amusement park in Costa Adeje is Aqualand, which features performing dolphis. An additional attraction is the 27-hole Costa Adeje Golf Course.
