Hermigua is a small village in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife district of Spain. It is situated within a grassy ravine, and is a lovely place to spend some time relaxing. Take the time to see the Valle Alto, the first valley. There is both a church and a monastery here that were constructed in the 1500s. In the middle of the older part of the village, you will find a beautiful church and convent that was built in the 16th century, called Santo Domingo. A bit down from the church is the Molino de Gofio, a reconstructed grain mill and museum that you will definitely want to see. Take the mill tour, and taste the freshly ground gofio at the end of the tour.
Mahona National Park is a good place to spend a day, or just an afternoon. The El Chorro waterfall is well worth seeing, as is the Los Telares Museum. If you enjoy the beach, spend some time at Valle Gran Rey. Its dramatic shoreline is like nothing you have ever seen before. Restaurants in this area do Hermingua proud. Fresh fish and other seafood, along with regional cuisine make for a fine meal any time of day. There are several hotels in the Hermigua area.
