Alcalá de Guadaira Hotels and Accommodation

Alcalá de Guadaira, located on the southern tip of Spain, was once known as ‘Alcalá de los Panaderos’ or ‘Alcalá of the Bakers’ because of its great flours mills along the Guadaira River that mashed grain for the purpose of breadmaking. These days, this town of approximately 65,000 people is a pleasant mixture of history, modernism and cultures all joined together in a breathtaking Spanish landscape that includes cliffs cut by the Guadaira River itself. Alcalá de Guadaira hotels are perfect for those looking for that special getaway weekend. Alcalá de Guadaira is a place where its extensive beauty pours into just about every building around, including the hotels in Alcalá de Guadaira. Visitors using EasyToBook.com will find that even when it comes to discount hotels, Alcalá de Guadaira has much to offer. In a place as beautiful as Alcalá de Guadaira, cheap hotels that are easy on the pocket book only make staying in this lovely city even lovelier!

Early in its history, Alcalá de Guadaira gained its name from Arabs who called the city ‘al-kalat’ for the beautiful Medieval Castle there with its massive defense walls that were built in the 13th century. The Merchenilla Castle a few kilometers out from Alcalá de Guadaira was built in the 14th century. The beautiful countryside is home to two nature preserves: The Pinares de Oromana and The Ribera del Rio Guadiana. Two convents, the Santuario de la Virgen del Águila and the Ermita de San Roque, are a mixture of historical ambience and beauty as are the towns’s two other ancient landmarks, the San Sebastian’s Church and Santiago’s Church. Visitors can also see a feat of architecture called the Bridge of Carlos the III (Puente Carlos III). Created of stone in early Roman times, this bridge (with a few restorations over a period of time) still crosses the Guadaira River to this day.
