Osuna Hotels and Accommodation
Osuna, in the province of Sevilla, is an ancient Spanish town dating back to Roman times. It is situated on a hillside, 282m above sea level, looking down over the fertile fields below which produce olives and cereal crops. There are several hotels in the center of Osuna, from budget hotels to 5* and EasyToBook.com offers a good choice of hotel accommodation. Around the Plaza Major, the center of the historic district, there are several good restaurants, and the casino is a good place to find a drink and some lively entertainment. This area is well-known for its traditional cuisine and stews of pork, ribs, leeks, carrots and onions. A typical appetizer, Ardoria, is made with local tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, ham and boiled eggs. Desserts are cakes made by the nearby convent.
Many of Osuna’s interesting buildings and monuments date back to the 16th and 17th centuries and the town has many white-washed Sevillian houses. Visitors to the historic quarter of this lovely town will appreciate the magnificent Palacio de Los Cepeda which has rows of columns and an elegant staircase. The Palacio de Puente Hermosa has wonderful twisted pillars decorated with carved grapes and vine leaves. The university, which dates back to 1548, is located on a promontory alongside the Ducal Pantheon, where the tombs of the Dukes of Osuna lie, and the College Church. There is a fine art collection in the lavish 16th century College, which was collected by the Duques de Osuna.
