Manuel Ruiz De Lopera had set out to remake the old Estadio Benito Villamarín stadium by building a new stadium on the old one. However, he only got half done when construction suddenly stopped. Therefore, he only built half a stadium. As recently as 2006 he claimed he was going to knock down the south wall and expand further but it hasn’t happened yet. There are some low cost hotels near the Ruiz De Lopera Stadium with easy access for getting to the football games. The area surrounding the stadium is magnificent and is sure to be enjoyed.
