    Elisabeth II Bridge Details

The bridge has become an icon in Spain and is a well known stop on many tours through the city. Originally opened in 1852, the Puente de Isabel spans the Guadalquivir and connects central Seville to Triana.A walk across the Puente de Isabel into Triana brings alive the flamenco culture of Spain. Triana, a former gypsy quarter, is now home to many flamenco cafes and bars. Near the Puente de Isabel you will also be able to find the Chapel of Carmen in the middle of the bridge. The chapel, designed by Anibal Gonzalez, has been lovingly deemed the cigarette lighter by residents of Seville. Together, the Puente de Isabel and the Chapel of Carmen are seen as one of the best examples of regionalist architecture in all of Seville.
