Hotels in Giralda
The Giralda is the bell tower that adorns the very top of the Cathedral of Seville. The Cathedral was built as a way of showing the wealth and prominence of this ancient city. The church itself is the third largest in the world and the largest Gothic church in the world. The bell tower was not always a bell tower. The bell tower used to be an Almohad minaret. When it was built, it was the tallest tower in the world and climbed to 320 feet. At the top of the Giralda is a statue which is 13 feet high. It has been located there since 1568 and is called the Giraldillo. Visitors can travel within the cathedral and visit its 80 chapels, though there is no access directly to the bell tower.
