This verdant park, located in the city’s center, is over one-half mile of palm trees, oak trees, elm trees, Mediterranean pine trees, and orange trees. Children can frolic among flower gardens and hidden bowers. Ponds are also scattered along the park’s paths and are perfect for a quiet picnic.
As with many other structures in Seville, the Maria Louisa Park was originally designed for the Latin American Exposition of 1929. In an effort to turn the city into a spectacular arena the south end was transformed into a Mecca of outdoor spaces and graceful boulevards. The Maria Teresa Park has been called one of the best in all of Europe and constantly lands on ‘Best Parks’ lists around the globe. The design of the park and many of the surrounding buildings was completed by Spanish architect Anibal Gonzalez.
