Sástago Hotels and Accommodation
When visiting the Zaragoza province of Spain, the major attractions in the town of Sastago are those influenced by the past Muslim rule of this area of the country. Although just 1350 people live here now, the town did have some importance during that time period. Because the town is small, you’ll need to search carefully for hotels especially if a budget hotel is what you have in mind. EasyToBook.com can help here. The Sastago Palace is one of the most popular attractions in town. It was built in the 16th century, and has an impressive interior courtyard. Today, it is used as an exhibition hall for the public.
However, the top attraction of the Zaragoza province is the Aljaferia Palace. It is the largest surviving building in Spain from the time of Muslim Rule that is found outside of Andalusia. The palace was built in the 11th century, although one tower that was incorporated into the structure actually dates from the 9th century. The palace is beautifully, intricately designed in the Mudejar style, with incredible arches, columns, inlaid designs and ornately carved décor. The palace was later home to the Aragon Kings as well as the famous Ferdinand and Isabel. Restored in the 1940s, since 1987 it has been the home of the regional parliament.
