Gavleborgs Lan is a county in the central part of eastern Sweden, on the shore of the Gulf of Bothnia. The land here is low and level, though inland it rises toward a highland. Much of the old forest cover is gone, but there are still some wooded areas. The coastal region is one of the most beautiful Sweden has to offer. In the 17th century Church of the Holy Trinity you can see a masterpiece of wood carving by the German artist Ewardt Friss. Also of interest are the Radhus, a beautiful 19th century theater; and the Swedish Railways Museum.
