The town of Kista is part of the Stockholm Lan region of Sweden. The town, or more properly, the borough, is found to the northwest of Stockholm. It is divided into two parts by the blue line of the metro. The western side is the more residential area, and the eastern side is the more commercial and industrial side. Depending on which area your EasyToBook.com budget hotel is located in, you could find that you are sharing the hotel with business people rather than with other tourists.
The town was named after an old farm in the area, and it is still there. The town as it exists today actually didn’t begin being constructed until the 1970s, mostly because of the needs of the area’s commercial businesses. In fact, Kista is an important industrial town, with a large number of businesses in the computer and telecommunications industries. It earned the nickname of Sweden’s Silicon Valley in the 1980s. Today, IT University is found here, as is the Ericsson headquarters.
