City Center Stockholm

The capital of Sweden, Stockholm also boasts the country's largest population of any city, with 798,715 inhabitants. Starting in the 1200's, this city has been the most important in the country, both as the seat of its government and the center of its trade. Its location on the water, between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea has aided it militarily as well as commercially. Historically, the significance of this city has also attracted a great deal of artists and writers. The picturesque sight of Old Stockholm, with its 17th century buildings overlooking the water, punctuated by the spires of churches, has attracted many tourists to Stockholm hotels.
