Lenzburg hotels and accommodation

The town of Lenzburg is in the Swiss canton of Aargau. This charming community dates back to before Roman times. Roman ruins, including a large theatre, were uncovered in 1965. However, the discovery of a Neolithic necropolis shows that human habitation began in prehistoric times. This is a good place to make a stop during a vacation, or perhaps even spend a weekend. Lenzburg has a lovely Old Town, and a massive castle, Schloss Lenzburg, that dates back to the 11th century. The German emperor Barbarosa once made the castle his headquarters. The castle houses an interesting historical museum. Guests staying in Lenzburg hotels can also visit the 17th century Reformed Church, and the 17th century Baroque Rathaus (Town Hall). This is a good base from which to explore this part of Switzerland.
