Lenzburg is a Swiss town in the canton of Argau dating back to the Middle Ages, currently populated by about 7,700 permanent residents. The city arose around a castle dating from before the 10th century AD. A settlement sprung up when the Counts of Lenzburg made their home there in 1036. The family ceased to exist less than 140 years later, but the settlement remained. In the 19th century, Lensburg became dominated by textile barons. It continues to have a brisk and robust economy to this day. Lenzburg is a 25-minute drive from the prosperous metropolis of Zurich.
The biggest attraction in Lenzburg is clearly the original Lenzburg Castle, which now contains a museum. Other attraction are the old City Hall (now a museum), and the ancient Roman theater from the 1st century AD, back from when the area was not yet a town.
