Most museums in any country are dedicated to preserving the history of the region, and the region’s most wealthy and high profile citizens, usually the aristocracy. However, sometimes it’s the case that a truer picture of the region’s history can be envisaged by looking at the lives of its average citizens. With that in mind, the Haus zum Kirschgarten is an excellent stop to make for the Swiss tourist who wants to get a total picture of the region’s history.
The house in question was built in the late 18th century and was home to a family of ribbon makers. By visiting it, you can see what life was like in that era, with furniture and decorations that remain largely unchanged and immaculately preserved from their original forms. There are many antique collections on display as well, including clocks and porcelains, as well as antique toys from the 18th century.
