One of the oldest and most beautiful churches can be found in the beautiful city of Basel. The church is called the Martinskirche and it is located in the Old Town area of Basel. This church is very old as such only a very small part of it survived the massive earthquake in the city back in the year 1356. In the many years after the earthquake it has been rebuilt with many different styles of additions to the beautiful structure.

The church has very wonderful bells that toll at the start and the finish of the Autumn Fair of Basel every year. Some very old paintings were discovered in the church in the year of 1928 that date back many years. The paintings which were discovered date from 1370 and are really something to see. Be certain to go by and see this very large and wonderful church next time you are in Basel.
