Spiez hotels and accommodation

Spiez is a small community in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It is at the base of Niesen Mountain, on the south shore of Lake Thun. This is a good place to stop during a vacation, or even to spend a weekend. Spiez is an excellent base from which to explore this part of Switzerland. Guests staying in Spiez hotels can enjoy water sports on Lake Thun. A drive around the lake provides some beautiful views of mountains and water. Spiez has a huge castle, Schloss Spiez, that dates back to the 11th century. It sits on a spur of land jutting into the lake and is considered the most impressive castle in this part of the country. There is also a Norman church that is over 1,000 years old. The architecture is Romanesque but the interior is baroque.
