Altstätten Hotels and Accommodation

The little town of Altstättenis in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It is at the foot of the Apenzell massif, and is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. This is a great place to stop for a visit during a vacation, or even spend a weekend. Altstättenis a pretty town with a medieval character. Guests staying in Altstättenhotels have a number of interesting sites to visit. The 18th century Church of St. Nikolaus was built by Johann Ulrich Haltiner. The Local History Museum is housed in the Prestegg, a 15th century mansion. The Castle of Neu-Altstatten dates back to the 14th century. Just south of the town is the Capuchin Convent of Maria-Hilf, which dates to the 17th century. One of its treasures is a 14th century Gothic Pieta. The Gut-Hirt Church is relatively new (1966) but is of interest because of its wall reliefs and sculptures.
