Zermatt hotels and accommodation

Zermatt is a village in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is at the foot of Switzerland’s most famous mountain, the Matterhorn, and is the base from which climbers (only the most expert) prepare to ascend the mountain. Whether you come here for a vacation or just a weekend, Zermatt is a fascinating place. It is automobile-free, and is accessible only by train. Zermatt has some of the best skiing to be found anywhere, and because of the altitude there is skiing year-round. Guests staying in Zermatt hotels can also enjoy hiking. They can join a mule trek into the mountains, or take a helicopter ride that provides some stunning views of the Matterhorn. Be sure to visit the Alpine Museum, and the Radio Matterhorn Museum. A visit here must include a trip on the Gornergrat, a train that takes passengers on a spectacular ride into the mountains.
