The town of Chateau d’Oex is the capital of the district of Pays d’Enhaut and this is located within the province of Vaud. Chateau d’Oex can boast some exceptionally good skiing facilities for its winter visitors. A cable car connects the town to the station of La Braye and here you would be able to ski until your heart’s content. The area is also very well known for the ballooning festival that it holds every year and it often welcomes around 100 participants to the event. Interestingly, on the 1st March 1999, the first hot air balloon to go around the globe left from Chateau D’Oex.
