Switzerland is a place renowned for its museums and preservation of past history and culture. Any one of the museums in the country is worth a visit, but if you’re travelling in Lausanne, one of the places that you definitely want to stop is the city’s chief museum, the Musee Cantonal de Beaux Arts. It’s devoted entirely to the excellent paintings of 19th century Switzerland.

Those unfamiliar with the discipline of Swiss painting are in for a rare treat. The Museum itself is a complex that houses not only these exceptional fine art exhibitions, but other museums as well, including the Musee Cantonal de Goelogie, and the Musee Cantonal de Zoology, as well as the Musee Historique de Lausanne. In addition, you can find museums dedicated to historical preservation, such as Paleontology and Archaeology. As such, it provides an excellent stop for just about any tourist, as there’s something here to pique literally anyone’s interest.
