Vevey Hotels and Accommodation

The canton of Vaud is found on the northern shore of Lake Geneva. Vevey is a town within the canton that was known in Roman times by the Latin Vibiscum. Actually, the town was first mentioned in written history by Ptolemy, an ancient Greek philosopher. The name he used for the town was Ouikos. Today, the town is the capital of its district, and is part of the area of Switzerland that is French speaking.
The main square in town is the Grande Place. There is an 1803 granary sitting on the plaza called La Grenette.
