Ayutthaya Hotels and Accommodation

The ancient city of Ayutthaya, Thailand was once the capital city of Siam. In 1767, the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya, and they destroyed the city. It was not until 1939 that the country’s name changed to Thailand, which means “land of the free”. The change happened because of a modification in government. Today, Ayutthaya is a fascinating location to visit. You will find many attractions in this city, and they will appeal to visitors of all ages. The old section of Ayutthaya has an assortment of ruins that include the remains of temples, palaces, decapitated statues, sculptures, and more. Many of the ruined buildings and other items have undergone restoration from their damaged state. There is also a newer, modern section of Ayutthaya. Many discount hotels in Ayutthaya are convenient for the sightseer, as they are within walking distance of some of the best examples of the ruins of old Siam.
The section of Ayutthaya that contains the ruins is known as the Ayutthaya Historical Park. You will definitely want to see the Wat Phra Si Sanphet temple, the Wat Yai Chai Mongkol temple, the ruins of the Wat Ratchaburana Palace, and the Wat Mahathat temple. The Chao Sam Phraya National Museum is full of interesting items from days gone by, including gold, jewels, bronze and stone sculptures, and an enormous bust of Buddha. Note the many headless Buddhas that are leftover from the Burmese invasion of Ayutthaya. You will find that the cheap hotels in Ayutthaya are an excellent value for your money.
