The ancient city of Ayutthaya, Thailand was once the capital city of Siam. In 1767, the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya, and they destroyed the city. It was not until 1939 that the country’s name changed to Thailand, which means “land of the free”. The change happened because of a modification in government. The old section of Ayutthaya has an assortment of ruins that include the remains of temples, palaces, decapitated statues, sculptures, and more.
