Known to Thais as Wat Phra Chetuphon, Wat Pho is one of the sights in Bangkok that houses a grand reclining Buddha statue. The Buddha is made out of gold plated material and is 15 meters high and 46 meters long. The eyes and soles of its feet are both made of authentic mother of pearls. Bangkok tourism has classified it as the largest and oldest wat that can be found in the whole city.

The complex is divided into two by Soi Chetuphon. The northern section is where the reclining Buddha is situated. At the back of it is a center for traditional Thai massage that is known to be the best one in Bangkok. There is also a large temple hall that is enclosed by hundreds of bronze Buddha images. The southern section or what is called Tukgawee is where the Buddhist monastery and school for the monks is located. The whole ground of Wat Pho contains almost 1000 Buddha images that came from the ruins of Ayuthaya and Sukhothai
