The Victory Monument or Anusawari Chai Samoraphum is considered to be the largest military landmark in Bangkok. It was built during the 1940's for the purpose of remembering the victory of Thai soldiers who fought against French authorities during the Indo-China War. Victory Monument, one of the popular Bangkok attractions, can be found in the busiest intersection of the city. Thai commuters are very familiar with this monument because the sky train passes the area.

Victory Monument's western design created by Corrado Feroci is one of the most visited sights of Bangkok. The 50 meters high obelisk is made of cement and marble in the shape of bayonets. It is representing the army, navy, air-force, police and civilian services. There are bronze plates around the circle that display the names of those who fought in the war. Foreign dignitaries who visit the country usually go here to offer wreaths as a sign of respect.
