Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahavihara or Wat Arun for short means the Temple of the Dawn. It is considered by Bangkok Tourism as a famous landmark in the city and it is the only major spot in the Thonburi district. The construction of this temple goes a long way back to King Rama II until it was finished during the reign of King Rama IV. This place was once the home of the famous Emerald Buddha before it was taken to another location.

Wat Arun's physical description consists of towers in a Khmer style or what they call prangs. These prangs are surrounded by small ones that are decorated by bits of porcelain and seashell. There are also murals that surround the base of temple where one can see the mythical guardians. The grounds of the said temple are relatively peaceful. One of the things to in this Bangkok attraction is to view the sunset and relax at some of the restaurants across the temple.
