Chulangkorn University, Thailand's first university was established in 1917 by King Chulalongkorn, Rama V as part of his policy to improve the educational system. It is one of the oldest universities in Thailand. First known to be a civil service college, in time, it progressed into a university. The development of this school took centuries and it is constantly developing its undergraduate section. The courses expanded into more disciplines that include Medicine, public administration, law, international relations, commerce, agriculture, and engineering. It has 18 faculties and a graduate school. The symbol of the university is a royal insignia, the Phra Kiao. Diplomas were traditionally handed out by King of Thailand.
This campus is known to be a Bangkok attraction because of its vast area. Within walking distance to one the sights of Bangkok, the Siam Square, this university is considered a prestigious one. Notable people from royalty studied here. It is a selective school that attracts the top students in the country.
