Famous for its production of gemstones, the province of Trat is bordered on the west by Cambodia and on the south by the Gulf of Thailand. Trat's temples are a sight to behold, and the oldest, Wat Buppharam, has recently been the subject of a regeneration and tidying-up project. Wat Bot has the honour of being the only royal temple in the province, and was once used as a place to hold the oath of allegiance ceremony. There is an old ordination hall of Ayutthayan art serving as a Wihan called Wihan Yotha Nimit for storing many antiques.
