Tunis is the capital city of Tunisa. The town is situated on the Gulf of Tunis and the Port of La Goulette, and extends along the coastal plain and surrounding hills. At the centre of the modern part of the city is the old medina, and the suburbs of Carthage. The medina is a collection of intertwining alleys and passages, filled with merchants plying their trade.
