Located south of Istanbul, Bursa is famous for its parks and gardens and is often referred to as “green Bursa”. Bursa is Turkey’s fourth largest city and was the capital of the Ottoman Turks before they seized Constantinople. As a result Bursa has some interesting tourist attractions for visitors to explore. Since you are in the “green city” visiting the “Green Mosque” or Yesil Cami, is a good place to start your sightseeing. The mosque was built 1419-1421 by Sultan Mehmed I Çelebi. For a taste of the Turkish countryside visit the Uludağ National Park. Uludağ, which means "Great Mountain", is the highest area in Western Anatolia and is home to Alpine forest and myriad birdlife. Back in town a visit to Ulu Cami, will have you behold one of the major landmarks of Ottoman architecture, which was built in the late 14th century. The mosques twenty impressive columns were supposedly built by the sultan to commemorate winning the Battle of Nicopolis.

One of the city’s historical gems is the Muradiye Cemetery, where several Ottoman sultans and princes were buried. The beautiful cemetery is line with 1,000 year old trees and lies next to the Muradiye Mosque. Bursa has several hot springs which offer the famous Turkish bath.
