Historically serving as the largest monastery on the territory of Russia, the Percherska Lavra, also known as the Monastery of the Caves, is the Ukraine’s leading tourist attraction. It’s a must-see attraction for most tourists not only for its own merits, but also its proximity to other attractions such as the right bank of the Dnepr River, the Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Vydubychi Monastery.

Situated on the high hills of the right bank of the Dnepr River and topped with gilded domes, the Persherska Lavra, is an attraction rich in history and legend. Apostle Andrew is said to have blessed the hilly bank of the Dnepr River while preaching the word of God in the Scythian Land. The historical chronicles of Persherska Lavra began in 1051 when Reverend Anthony settled in one of the Varangian caves. On the land where the Percherska Lavra is there are one hundred constructions, forty-two of which are considered to be unique. There are twenty-three temples, including six cave temples and thirty-six altars. Visitors who wish to share in an important part of history should consider visiting the Persherska Lavra.
