The structure of St. Andrews Church in Kiev is the result of the fruitful collaboration between Russian and Ukrainian architects’. Numerous specialists from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kyiv were involved in the construction process. St. Andrews Church was originally built during the time period of 1749 to 1754. The construction of this church, a monument of Russian and Ukrainian architecture, was carried out under the guidance of Ivan Michurin, an architect from Moscow. The church was built in the Baroque style and is considered a gem of the eighteenth century Russian and Ukrainian architecture.

After the death of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna the church fell into disrepair. Numerous times throughout the history of the church, repairs were made, some of which altered the original structure. In 1968, the church was proclaimed to be a historical monument which would be preserved by the state. In 1978, the dome was restored to its original configuration which can still be seen today.
