If you choose a budget hotel in Dubai near Creek Park, you will be staying close to some of the most historic sites in Dubai. The Creek is actually a seawater inlet that crosses through the city center. It passes through some of the most historical parts of Dubai and is best seen by small water taxis called abra. To see the majority of the historic landmarks in Dubai as well as some of the most modern structures, instruct the taxi to take you from your budget hotel in Dubai near Creek Park to the Al-Maktoum Bridge and back. The trip will last about an hour.

To see more of the city’s heritage, take a walk along the wharf where you can see the Dubai trade in action. The ships, called dhows, are continually unloaded and reloaded for trips to distant locales. For an impressive wildlife display, travel to the end of the creek where Creek Park is a wildlife sanctuary. The shallow lagoon here has had as many as 27,000 birds in residence at one time.
